Cone Vecinos a soft serve ice cream shop that aspires to be a neighborhood magnet. As ice cream trucks and local ice cream stores have vanished throughout the years, opportunities for spontaneous encounters with neighbors have diminished. Cone Vecinos brings together the love of ice cream and the idea of friendship and seeks to create a space where neighbors can gather and enjoy accessibly priced ice cream together. We envision kids dropping in for an afternoon treat; commuters stopping in on their way home from work; and neighbors, young and old, visiting after dinner to enjoy a sweet treat while catching up with other locals. Cone Vecinos is not just about the ice cream; it is about helping activate a commercial corridor with many vacant storefronts. By providing an affordable product, we hope to re-create these chance neighborhood encounters once prevalent on Detroit’s commercial corridors.

Cone Vecinos was a top 10 semifinalist of the 2025 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest by TechTown and plans to open in Ultreia, a historic building renovated by Field Day on E. Warren Ave in 2026.
